What IS a union anyway?

Unions are groups of workers who join together to improve their pay and working conditions.

Union members worked together to win the weekend (yep - without unions there would be no weekend!), holidays, sick leave, maternity leave, Medicare, penalty rates and more.

It was ASU members who fought for and won Equal Pay in the community sector.

That’s why we get a pay rise every December to 2020!

Every worker – part-time, full-time, casual, temporary, apprentice, trainee or contract – can join a union, and in Australia there are over 1.6 million union members.

If you work in the community or disability sector, your union is the Australian Services Union.

If you're still a student, you can join for free!
